Card of the week 559
Card of the Week: Pop up Butterflies 🦋✨
This week’s card is a playful and dimensional design, perfect for birthdays and special occasions! We’re using a simple folded base, vibrant papers from the butterfly pad, and a clever acetate pop-up effect to bring your card to life. With layered sentiments, delicate green leaves, and fluttering embellishments, this card is full of charm and texture. Let’s get crafting!

5 x 7 card blank – cut in half down the fold and trim 1″ from the 7″ length (this is because the paper pad is only 6″)
Score both pieces at 1cm in from the edge
Decorate the front – we’ve used a piece of denim blue from CAT237 on a mat of butterfly print paper from the pad
Cut the scalloped circle from the happy birthday set in white
Using the word die and plain circle together cut the greeting in denim blue
Attach the greeting with foam tape to the butterfly panel
We’ve added green leaves as an embellishment and a green star in the centre of the greeting
On the piece that you’ve decorated for the front of the card, run a length of power tape along the fold
Cut 5 pieces of acetate 1cm wide and then stick these onto your power tape
Add another length of power tape over the acetate on the fold and then join the two pieces together (we found it easier to lay one piece on top of the other to line them up)
Add butterflies of your choice (or you could add flowers as our other example shown below)
Cut the ‘with love’ sentiment in paper from the butterflies pad and the shadow in denim blue
Add this to the inside of the card and stick a few green leaves around it
